Welcome Winter!
Today is the Winter Solstice for the Northern Hemisphere. Winter arrived at 12:30 AM here in Springfield, PA.
While today is the astronomical start of winter, meteorologists say winter began on December 1st and will end on Feb 29th ( 2012 is a leap year).
You couldn't tell that winter has been here for almost a month by our recent weather, however. Unfortunately for you snow-lovers, the chance of snow looks bleak over the next week to ten days with temperatures up above freezing and little chance of precipitation. Have faith since we have over two months of winter remaining with our coldest time of the season still to come!
